FOZ Race Cars 2006 Update

2006 was a very successful first season for the FOZ Race Cars mini sprint.  Despite only having a few cars running, the cars were consistently in the top ten and even posted a few big wins during the season.

Jamie Paul races a 600cc upright mini sprint in the Ohio area and got off to a strong start in his FOZ

mini sprint.  Jamie began winning heat races with his car right off the bat.  His big win came during Mini Sprint Madness at Limaland Speedway.  Paul ran an impressive race to capture the victory over a large field of mini sprints.  The race is considered by many to be the biggest 600cc upright race of the year.

Jason Soudrette's year got off to a bit of a difficult start as he struggled with engine problems.  Although Soudrette showed flashes off what he and his FOZ car were capable of, motor problems often sidelined him before he could drive it home.  Mid-season things began to iron out for Soudrette and he was in winning form taking heat race victories and recording top five finishes in the feature.  It all finally came together for Soudrette on the final weekend of racing.  Lawrenceburg's famed Fun Fest draws a large field of cars and Soudrette claimed feature wins the first two nights of the event.

Rich Woods, who races on the East coast,  put together several top showings this year and was so close to victory in one of the biggest race of the year before engine problems struck.  The 2006 running of the Short Track Nationals in New York is one of upright mini sprint racing's premier events.  Woods looked strong all weekend winning his heat race and sitting on the front row for the feature.  When the flag dropped, Woods was gone building up a nearly straight away lead before the engine began going sour on him.  Woods posted several additional top 3 finishes throughout the season.

Scott Fasse competed with the American Mini Sprint Association in 2006.  Throughout the season he posted several top five finishes and a best finish of 3rd.  Although only competing part time in the series he netted tenth in the season ending points chase.
